Holmesdale: 2 x Peter Afalayan
Holmesdale reserves travelled to Deal Town for their second game of the season on what was the hottest day of the year with the Dalers looking to make it 2 wins out of 2.
The Dalers began with a good tempo and looked threatening every time they attacked.
Deal were physical and were causing problems with long diagonal balls, but once that problem was sorted out the Dalers looked comfortable playing some lovely football from defence right through to the attack.
Peter 'Yakubu' Afenyalo looked to have broken the deadlock just before half time as he was put through 1 on 1 with the impressive Deal Town keeper.
The ball was bouncing and it looked odds on that the Yak would lob the keeper for 1-0, but the keeper pushed his effort over making a fine save.
The flowing football continued in to the second half as Holmesdale continued there dominance.
A shocking flying studs tackle on Dalers centre half Casey Jones meant Deal Town were reduced to 10 men.
Holmesdale seemed to be in crusie control and it was looking like any minute they would get the goal that they deserved but a bizzare moment where Dalers full back Lee Roots was running to receive a pass all of a sudden looked like he was doing a dance which included a couple of shimmys and then dropping to the floor for a sleep.
He had however actually turned his ankle and was on the floor in agony but this didnt stop the Deal Town winger from taking the ball past the stricken Roots to cross in to the Dale box only for it to be cleared to Steven O'Rourke. O'Rourke then ran up the left wing drove in to the box and crossed for Afenyalo to control shift the ball to his right foot and then smash the ball in to the top corner for 1-0 to Holmesdale with Roots still crumpled on the floor.
After a few changes and plenty more good football from the green and yellows the second goal came with Afenyalo banging in his 2nd of the game to wrap up the win and bring home them 3 points back to Oakley road.
