Storming Sundays

Sunday 26th April 2009

Holmesdale's Sunday Team continued their storming league run with another win at London Simba.

The 1-4 victory takes their tally to 12 wins from 15 games and puts them a clear 7 points at the top of the table above closest rivals FC Cortez.

The Sunday XI play their final game of the season against Dartford Aces on May 3rd where they will be awarded the league trophy.


The 2008/2009 Season Climax

Saturday 25th April 2009

Holmesdale entertained Erith and Belvedere in their final match of the season in a game which was to decide their final league position.

Erith and Belvedere were to take the three points with a 0-2 win through goals from Deane and Hockey.

With VCD Athletic, Hythe Town, Greenwich Borough and Faversham Town all winning their matches Holmesdale end the season in fifth place.

Congratualations to Champions VCD Athletic and well done to all the Holmesdale first XI in what has been an entertaining campaign.


Back To Winning Ways

The Division Two Champions travelled to Greenwich Borough on the back of their first defeat of the season against Faversham Town last Weekend.

In a game that saw six goals the medal winners ended their season with a 4-2 win.

Congratulations again to the 2008/2009 Kent League Division Two Champions.


Thirds Snatch Victory in Five Goal Game

Saturday 25th April 2009

Holmesdale's Third XI entertained Phoenix Sports Reserves in a match that saw five goals.

Holmesdale were the ones to take the win with a 3-2 victory which see's them move to fourth place in the table.

The Teams next match will be played at Oakley Road on May 2nd when the visiting side will be Greenwich Borough.


Final Exit for Sunday Team

Sunday 19th April 2009

Holmesdale's Sunday XI met Hayes Town at Beckenham for the Holder Trophy Final.

The Metropolitan Sunday League Division One Leaders were unable to fend off Hayes and suffered a 0-2 defeat at this final stage of the cup.

The team will be back in league action next weekend as they travel to London Simba.

Battle At The Top

Saturday 18th April 2009

Holmesdale travelled to Reachfields Stadium to face title rivels Hythe Town.

In a line up that saw three changes from the side that drew at Herne Bay (Russell Bedford, Steve White and Ben Chick) Holmesdale shared the takings with Hythe.

Frank Bunani found the net from a Thompson corner with 12 minutes on the clock, however, the lead was only to last six minutes following Lee Winfield's equaliser.

Holmesdale suffered on the half hour mark when keeper Danny Harwood had to be strechered from the field following an awkward fall.

Holmesdale face Erith and Belevedere in their final match of the season at Oakley Road next Saturday.


Reserves Suffer First Defeat

The Division Two Champions suffered their first defeat of the 2008/2009 season as they entertained Faversham Town at Oakley Road.

They will be looking to get back to their winning ways as they travel to Greenwich Borough for their final game of the season.


Second Consecutive Win for Thirds

Saturday 18th April 2009

Holmesdale's Thrid Team secured their second consecutive league victory with a 2-0 win over Rotherhithe and move up to fourth place in the table.

The next outing for the Thirds is at home to Phoenix Sports Reserves this coming weekend.


A Happy Easter For Sunday Team

Sunday 12th April 2009

Holmesdale's Sunday Team beat Catford Wanderers 3-0 on Easter Sunday and remain in a strong position at the top of the Metropolitan Sunday League Division One.

The team will be feeling confident going into their Holder Trophy Final against Hayes Town next Sunday as they have won 10 consecutive games in all competitions.


Late Equaliser Secures A Point

Saturday 11th April 2009

The Division Two Champions secured a late equaliser to secure a point and maintain their unbeaten record when they entertained Tunbridge Wells at Oakley Road.

The match was followed by the awarding of the Bulmers Kent League Division Two Trophy to Team Captain Jon White by Kent League Chairman Denise Richmond.

Convincing Victory for Holmesdale 3's

Saturday 11th April 2009

Holmesdale's Third Team put in a convincing display when they beat Shelton Athletic 0-5.

The win and three points moves the team up one place into fifth position in The Bromley and District League Premier Division.


Points Shared at Winch's Field

Friday 10th April 2009

Holmesdale travelled to Winch's Field needing a win following their 0-1 midweek defeat to Faversham if they were to keep up the pressure on Hythe Town and VCD.

In an entertaining match for all supporters neither side could make their mark on goal despite the number of opportunities they both had.

After 90 minutes it was 0-0 with both teams taking a share of the points.

Holmesdale's next encounter is against league leaders Hythe Town as they travel to The Reachfield's Stadium on Saturday 18th April.

Home Defeat for First XI

Tuesday 7th April 2009

Holmesdale failed to take advantage of their game in hand over league leaders Hythe Town when they suffered a home defeat to Faversham Town which keeps the gap at the top to four points.

Faversham Town started the game in 5th place, six points behind the Daler's and as a result of a single goal courtesy of Damiel Abel on 23 minutes they climb up one spot to 4th.

Holmesdale's next outing will be another close encounter as they travel to Winch's Field where they face 5th placed Herne Bay.

Top of The Table

Sunday 5th April 2009

Holmesdale's Sunday Team moved to the top of the Metropolitan Sunday League Division One following a 4-2 win over Oarolians.

They lead the league by a single point but have three games in hand over closest rivals FC Cortez who are on 30 points.

Holmesdale entertain Catford Wanderers on Easter Sunday.


Three Straight Wins For First XI

Saturday 4th April 2009

Following their recent victories against Sevenoaks and Deal Town Holmesdale secured their third consecutive victory when they entertained Lordswood at Oakley Road.

The only goal of the game was to come courtesy of Michael Holliday who gifted Holmesdale with the three points when he found the back of his own net.

Holmesdale have a tough week ahead as they face 5th placed Faversham Town on Tuesday evening and then travel to Winch's Field on Good Friday to play 3rd placed Herne Bay.

Second Semi Final Exit for Thirds

Saturday 4th April 2009

Holmesdale's Third XI lost out 1-5 to Barnehurst in the Challenge Cup Semi Final.

Holmesdale will now be concentrating on the League as they also failed to make the final spot last weekend in their Charity Cup Semi Final against Seven Acre Sports (SLA).

Holmesdale are currently 6th in the league with 19 points and have four games in hand over the league leaders Phoenix Sports Reserves who are on 36 points.
