Kent Premier league

Holmesdale 1-2 Thamesmead Town

Attendance 72

Scorers:

Holmesdale: Hatt (24)

Greenwich Borough: Knight (44) Dimock (78)

After Saturday’s good second half performance the Dalers failed to get anything out of a very attack minded Thamesmead side.

After 5 mins Thamesmead attacked down the left flank with Williams cutting in and shooting just wide, for some reason the Dalers seemed to be still in the dressing room.

On 10 mins the Dalers had their first break, Dadson shifted down the right and floated a lovely ball to the far post where Hatt met the cross by headed over the bar.

The Dalers were slowly coming into the game and on 20 Beckett was unlucky to see his chip bounce off the cross bar and cleared by the Mead defence.

On 24 mins Dadson again crossed to the far post and this time Hatt managed to head the ball down and into the net 1-0 the Dalers.

This seemed to spur on the Mead and on 30 mins Murley had to save well from a close range shot from Dimock, a couple of mins later another Dimock effort crashed against the bar. On 35 mins Williams created a chance with a curly shot that Murley tipped round the post.

On 45 mins the Dalers gave a free header to Knight from a corner 1-1 at half time.

A shuffle at half time saw Hope on for Hatt and the Dale started brightly with some quick passing creating an opening for O’Rourke to fire one across the box that was just missed by Beckett.

On 60 mins the Dalers gave another free header to a Mead defender but saw his effort just go over the bar, on 65 Dadson drove into the box and pulled the trigger but his shot went just over the bar.

On 70 mins Thomas found himself one on one with the Mead keeper but the keeper kept his cool and saved bravely at Thomas’s feet.

On 78 mins the Mead took the lead with what was an easy finish, miscommunication at the back let in the striker to put the Mead 2-1 up.

The final 12 mins saw the Mead trying to slow the game up with the Dalers trying to push for an equaliser but their only effort came on 90 mins, from a Tolfrey free kick Bushell headed just wide of the far post and the game came to an end 2-1 to the Mead.

Holmesdale:

Murley, Bushell, Broome, Tolfrey (C) Nicoli, O’Rourke, Hatt (Hope), Irvin (Coles), Dadson, Beckett, Thomas (Hughes). Unused Strotten, Prime.
