The Dalers travelled down to Faversham on a cold Tuesday night on the back of a fine weekend performance in the County Cup, only to be thwarted of gaining a valuable three points when the floodlights
failed on 62 minutes.
From the start Faversham came at the Dalers, putting the defense on the back foot and were unlucky not to go ahead
on 5 mins when a shot from outside the box hit Primes left hand post and was scrambled clear.
It took Holmesdale 15 mins to get into the game as they started to use the flanks, O’Rourke crossed from the
right only for a Faversham defender to clear just over the bar, on 20 mins O’Rourke again found space to deliver into
the box, but the Dalers failed to find the net.
On 29 mins the first goal arrived, a clinical pass from Tolfrey found Hatt on the left who crossed for the returning
Creasey to volley home his first league goal of the campaign.
The Dalers were now on top and went further ahead when Hughes broke through from midfield and unleashed a right foot
shot from outside the box into the bottom left of the Faversham goal. 2-0.
On 40 mins the Dalers had a lapse in defence and let Town in with a chance, but a goal line clearance by read saved
the day.
Half time came and Baker replaced the injured O’Rourke and on 49 mins Town nicked a goal from a corner, 2-1.
On 55 mins a clever through ball by Simon found MacDiarmid on the right who moved swiftly into the box to finish coolly
passed the Town keeper. 3-1.
On 62 mins disaster struck when the floodlights went out and after 20 mins of failing to get them working the game
had to be abandoned by the match officials.
A disappointing end to an evening of promise, no points and another injured player to boot. That’s football for
you.
