Kent Premier league

Sporting Bengal 2-2 Holmesdale

Attendance 43

Scorers:

Sporting Bengal: Nizamul (60) Forbes (85)

Holmesdale: Hatt (16) Broome (81)

After last weeks great performance the Dalers let themselves down on their first visit to the East End of London.

They arrived on a high after a great 3-3 draw with Beckenham Town the previous week to face a Sporting side who also had a good result by beating Tunbridge Wells.

The game started at a quick pace with the Dalers moving the ball well and they took the lead on 16 mins when Hatt finished off a fine move started from the back by Tolfrey who fed McDiarmid down the right for the forward to put a quality ball into the box for Hatt finish.

On 25 mins another move down the right saw O’Rourke’s shot come cross bounce off the cross bar with the Dalers unable to finish off the rebound.

From this Sporting started to get into the game and should have equalised on 30 mins when some good ball play found a striker in acres of space in the box but he put his shot over the bar.

1-0  at half time and the management team were not happy.

Following the Becks hair dryer treatment you would have thought it might have kicked the Dalers into gear but Sporting come out of the traps quicker in the second period creating a few openings with the equaliser coming in the 60 min when poor defending let Nizamul score.

5 mins later and another good move by Sporting saw a goal bound shot hit the post and was scrambled clear by the Dalers.

The game moved from one end to the other with the Dalers finally taking the lead on 81 mins when Broome headed in from a Baker corner 2-1 which should have wrapped up the points, but again a lack of concentration let Forbes in on 85 mins to finish from a tight angle.

The Dalers had the last chance of the game on 89 mins when Hughes crossed for Strotten only to see his header go wide of the mark.

A bad day at the office, plenty of room for improvement next week in the Kent Intermediate Cup tie at home to Oakwood.
