Bay Take The Second Leg

Saturday 31st October 2009

Herne Bay followed last weekends victory over Holmesdale at Oakley Road with a strong team performance which gave them a 1-0 win a home and a 3-1 aggregate score.

The only goal of the game came in the 30th minute with Bay's three front players combining to give Rob Lawrence the goal.


Cup Exit for 2's

Saturday 31st October 2009

Holmesdale's reserves suffered at Chatham town when they were beaten 4-0 in the Divisions 1 and 2 Cup 2nd Round.

Focus returns to the league next weekend when the team travel to Whitstable Town.


Charity Cup Defeat For Threes

Holmesdale's Third XI fell to Heathfield in the Charity Cup Round 2.

The final score was 2-1 with Jamie Range picking up the goal for The Dalers.

It's League action next weekend as the 3's entertain Phoenix Sports Reserves.


Home Defeat For U18's

Holmesdale's Under 18's conceded one goal in each half to lose 0-2 to South Park.


First Leg Home Defeat

Saturday 24th October 2009

Holmesdale dominated the first 45 minutes with Tony Atkins and Dan Moody causing the Herne Bay defense all sorts of problems.

It was against the run of play that Bay took the lead with former Daler, Crofts, heading at close range from a corner.

The lead was short lived as Holmesdale hit back immediatly with Moody firing past Eason with a 10 yard strike.

Holmesdale started the second half the bright side with Atkins again going close.

Bay were to take the lead from another corner in the 56th minute, again Crofts the scorer.

The dying minutes saw Crofts sent off for an adjudged handball on the goal line, however Moody failed to convert the spot kick with Dan Eason chosing the right way to push the ball away.

The visitors go home with a 1-2 victory to take into the 2nd leg next weekend.


Further Defeat for Holmesdale 2's

Holmesdale's reserves suffered their 6th defeat of the season through a 4-0 defeat at Maidstone United.

The Daler's will be hoping for a better result as they aim to progress in the Division 1 and 2 Cup next weekend when they travel to Chatham.


3's Lose Out in Challenge Cup

Three Goals, Three Points

Sporting Bengal made the trip to Oakley Road as an improved side from the one that finished bottom of the 2008/2009 League Table having failed to score a single point in 32 League games.

Bengal had already picked up 10 points from 8 games which placed them 5 places above Holmesdale on 7 points.

The game was exciting end to end action with both teams looking a treat infront of goal.

Bengal were quick off the mark with Midfielder Yasser Rashid hitting a long range effort to beat Peck's goal after just 11 minutes to give the visitors the lead.

However, the lead was short lived as Dan Moody equalised from close range two minutes later for 1-1.

The home side were to take the lead after 25 minutes when Sam Groombridge headed home from a set piece.

Inn the second half Dan Moody created The Dalers third following an excellent run and cross to the far post which Jason Thompson headed back to Groombridge to grab his second on 54 minutes.

The visitors then made the last 20 minutes slightly nervy for all the home supporters when centre half Aaron Hutchings scored in the 69th.

Holmesdale held out for a 3-2 win and three points which moves them back to mid table in 8th place.

Holmesdale welcome Herne Bay on Saturday for the 1st Round 1st Leg of the Premier Division Cup.


Dockers On Top

Holmesdale travelled to hosts Erith Town following their 8-0 home win against West Wickham last Weekend.

The Dockers have an unbeaten record at Erith Stadium having drawn their last four home fixtures making this a tough tie for The Dalers.

It took 64 minutes before Prett put Erith ahead and then it was The Dockers all the way.

Further goals from Watkins (82), Prett (88) and Taylor (90) gave Erith a comfortable 4-0 win moving them into 6th position and relagating The Daler's to 13th.

Holmesdale's midweek fixture takes place at Oakley Road on Tuesday evening when they Sporting Bengal United.


Seven Goals As 2's Lose Out

Holmesdale reserves welcomed Herne Bay to Oakley Road for their seventh match of the season.

The first 45 minutes ended with Herne Bay taking a two goal cushion with the score 2-4.

Herne Bay extended their lead in the second half with a further goal to make the final score 2-5.

Herne Bay's win pushes Holmesdale down to 8th place in Division One.


Deva Vu For The Threes

Holmesdale's Third Team suffered a case of deja vu as they fell to a 1-3 defeat for the second week running.

This time it was Eden Park Rangers who took the points leaving Holmesdale with a single point from their first three games.

Next weekend focus moves to the Challenge Cup where Holmesdale entertain The Running Horses in The First Round.


Three Points and Third Position

A brace from Connie Atille secured Holmesdale's Under 18's three points and moved them back to third position in the Southern Youth League South Division.

Opponents Three Bridges missed an opportunity to lead the game when a strike from the penalty spot was sent over the bar.

Connie Atille found the net twice before Three Bridges were awarded a second penalty which this time beat the Holmesdale stopper.


Eight And No Reply

Saturday 10th October 2009

Holmesdale started with a closely fought first half contest against West Wickham at Oakley Road.

A 32nd minute strike from Jason Thompson broke the deadlock and seperated the teams at half time.

In the second half The Dalers stepped up the pace with Thomposon scoring another well struck effort after 3 minutes of play.

Jason set up a third when Austin Gacheru found the net on 58 minutes to give Holmesdale a 3-0 cushion.

West Wickham were to lose out further when keeper Steve Foster had to leave the field after an injury sustained in a fall.

Joe Ivory took the gloves but could not stop five further goals from the on fire Dalers.

Austin Gacheru secured his brace after 69 minutes before Badar Mohammed and Aaron Aygeman added their names to the score sheet.

Aaron's goal came 2 minutes from time sandwiched between a Mohammed Hat Trick in 14 minutes (76, 84 and 90).

The win sees Holmesdale through to a Second Round tie at Beckenham Town on Saturday 12th December.


Three's Lose Out To League Leaders

A single goal from Steven Strotten wasn't enough for the Third Team as they lost 1-3 to in form South East Athletic who have already taken maxmimum points from the previous two games.

The Three's entertain Barnehurst next weekend.


Under 18's Lose Out To Merstham

Thursday 8th October 2009

Holmesdale's Under 18's suffered their second league defeat of the season to Merstham in a five goal battle which ended with Merstham pipping Holmesdale to the points with a 3-2 win.

Holmesdale were refused a penalty claim within the first ten minutes of play and a goal was later disallowed for an offside.

Kyle Rowe and Jamie Beveridge found the net for The Daler's but the brace wasn't enough to see off Merstham.

Holmesdale take on Three Bridges U18 at Oakley Road next Tuesday evening.


Three Goals, Three Points

Tuesday 6th October 2009

Holmesdale's Reserves entertained Thamesmead town at a wet and windy Oakley Road for the sides second meeting of the season.

Thamesmead won the home fixture 5-4 and were undefeated in the league with 3 wins and 2 draws from their first 5 games.

The first half saw either side unable to open the scoring so the expectation of another goal bonanza looked off the cards.

In the second half Holmesdale took the game to Thamesmead with three goals coming from Louis Dean, Martin Debrah and Steve Strotten.

Thamesmead struck back with a consolation goal from former Daler David May.

The three points doubles Holmesdale's tally and moves them into 7th position in Division 1 as Thamesmead drop to 2nd.


Golden Ball Award

Monday 5th October 2009

Holmesdale's Reserves have been awarded the Molten Golden Balls Award for Division 1 in September having scored 13 goals in 5 league games.

Peter Afolayan leads the scoring with 3 goals and Jack Highwood is close behind with 2.

The 2's next match is on Tuesday evening 7:45PM at Oakley Road where they entertain Thamesmead Town where they will be looking to turn around the 5-4 defeat suffered in the first game of the season.


Away Win For Norton

Saturday 3rd October 2009

Norton Sports picked up their first away win of the season on Saturday when they beat The Daler's 0-1 at Oakley Road.

On a windy pitch both teams were unsteady to start but Holmesdale had most of the possession until on fifteen minutes Sam May suffered a knee injury and was stretchered from the field.

In the second half Holmesdale took the game to Norton with strikers forcing Norton to defend in force.

It was in the 78th minute that Norton found the winner with a Lewis Riviett header scored from a Ryan Rook corner.

Holmesdale's next match is against West Wickham in the Kent Senior Trophy at Oakley Road on Saturday 10th October at 3:00PM


Strotten Hat Trick Secures A Point

Holmesdale's Third Team were held to a 3-3 draw in their first league game of the 2009/2010 season against O.P.K.

A Steven Strotten hat trick secured Holmesdale a point which sets the team in 4th place.

Next weekend the 3's take on South East Athletic who have already picked up 6 points in their first 2 league games.
