Well where do we start?; It's been a great season for the Daler's on and off the park.
We started off the season with a game under our new floodlights...Something that I never thought would happen so quickly in the development of Holmesdale FC. When I look back to when I first got involved with Holmesdale (1984) we were playing in the Thornton Heath and District League at Heath Clark School and now we are a Step Five Club and will be playing in the FA Cup this season!!!
In only our second season in the Kent League we have finished fifth, reached the quarter finals of the League Cup and played in the FA Vase. We were involved in the mix for the title and runners up spot for three quarters of the season but ran out of puff at the final hurdle.
Our reserves deservedly won Division Two, only losing one game, and have gained promotion to Division One.
We resurrected our third team and they were placed in the Bromley & District League Premier Division, a tough start as they were up against a lot of first and reserve sides. They did remarkably well finishing in third place and were unlucky to loose in two semi-finals.
Our Sunday team won the Division One title in the Metropolitan League, gaining promotion to the Senior Division and narrowly lost out in a league cup final.
Going forwards into next season the management and playing staff have learnt a lot from the last two seasons and people have to remember that we are a young club at the Senior level of football and it will take some time to acclimatise ourselves and get the ground ready for a push for promotion.
As a club we are looking to progress, and with the management and club officials working hard behind the scenes we hope to get off to a good start again and continue it on to the end of the season. Plans are in place to improve our facilities and we hope to have them done by the end of the season.
A number of players have already re-signed and are keen to get back to pre-season training on the 30th June. There will be some announcements in the near future.
We hope that the spectators that came to Oakley Road enjoyed the type of football we tried to play and that they come back (with friends / colleagues) to support us again next season.
The futures bright!!! It's yellow and green!!!!
